Basketball betting values on these southwest division teams have been weak most of the season as neither is making a pro basketball betting profit. After a terrible start to the basketball betting season the Dallas Mavericks are back as a playoff contender as their record improved to 31-21 straight up and 24-28 against the spread.
Dallas has been a strong pro basketball betting away team, however, as they were 16-11 against the spread as a visitor. The home team, in fact, was 33-19 in all Dallas games this season. The Mavericks were something of an under team on the road with a mark of 11-16 under the total as a visitor.
Dallas was beginning to show more basketball betting balance as the season went along as they ranked 11th overall on offense and 15th overall on defense. After four consecutive basketball betting payoffs the Mavericks hit a rough stretch from February 5 through February 12 as they covered just one out of four games against the spread.
Dirk Nowitzki has been the main basketball betting asset for Dallas as he led the team in scoring with an average of 25.9 points per game. Nowitzki also led in rebounding with an average of 8.3 per game. The Houston Rockets have struggled to offer basketball betting value this season.
The Rockets had a pro basketball betting record of 32-21 straight up but were just 23-29-1 against the spread. Houston posted just 10 basketball betting payoffs in 25 home games this season with a 10-15 mark under the total. The Rockets have been a poor value as a basketball betting favorite as they were 17-23-1 as a chalk.
Yao Ming has been the basketball betting star for the Rockets as he led the team in scoring with an average of 19.8 points per game and also led in rebounds with an average of 9.6 per game. Houston's basketball betting strength was their 10th ranked defense. Their offense ranked 18th.
