horse1 Belmont Stakes odds will be posted for a $1 million horse betting finale to the 2009 Triple Crown series that has been unpredictable from the very start. Belmont Stakes odds will favor Kentucky Derby winner Mine That Bird, who stunned the horse betting word as a 50/1 long shot winner at the Kentucky Derby.

Belmont Stakes odds will not list super filly Rachel Alexandra, who held off Mine That Bird by a half of a length to win the Preakness Stakes as the most exciting filly in recent horse betting history.  The filly’s owners did not want to stress out the horse with another grueling race.

Charitable Man is one of the top three choices for betting against the Belmont Stakes odds.  He has not run in any previous Triple Crown races but did win the prestigious Peter Pan last month and is familiar with the New York track.  Charitable Man’s trainer, Kiaran McLaughlin, has been pleased the with horses workouts so far in preparation for the Belmont Stakes odds.  He ran a half a mile in 49 seconds last Sunday morning.

McLaughlin actually thinks that the horse has picked up strength for his upcoming run against the Belmont Stakes odds.  Keep in mind that Charitable Man is 3 out of 3 on regular dirt surfaces, which goes a long way towards explaining the respect he is getting against the Belmont Stakes odds. Another positive for Charitable Man is that he will be ridden by the jockey that stunned the world with a win over Big Brown against the Belmont Stakes odds last year.  Alan Garcia gets the mount and he will try and make it his second straight win against the Belmont Stakes odds after riding Da’Tara to victory in 2008.

Dunkirk had strong workouts as well on Sunday, so strong in fact, that jockey John Velazquez had to reign him in.  He should be well rested as he hasn’t run since the Kentucky Derby. D. Wayne Lucas will enter the duo of Flying Private and Luv Gov. Flying Private has shown marked improvement going from last at the Derby to 4th at the Preakness. Chocolate Candy is another Derby horse that was highly touted before the season and could make for a great value.
