Golf betting will have its final tune up before the British Open with the John Deere Classic taking place at TPC Deere Run in Silvis, Illinois. Golf betting fans saw Kenny Perry take the John Deere Classic last year in a thrilling one hole playoff over Brad Adamonis and Jay Williamson to win $750,000.
This year the golf betting purse for the John Deere Classic is $4.3 million including $774,000 for the winner and 500 FedExCup points will be at stake.
This year the tournament boasts its best golf betting field ever which will include 22 players that are eligible for the following week’s British Open. The field is headlined by Perry who will defend his John Deere title. Perry has two golf betting victories this year and is best known for his thrilling yet heartbreaking finish at the Masters where he blew what seemed like a sure win and lost in a 2 hole playoff.
US Open champion Lucas Glover will also be at the golf betting event along with runners up David Duval and Rickey Barnes. Chad Campbell, who was another Masters runner up is in the golf betting field as well. Zach Johnson, a local hero from nearby Iowa and the Masters champion of 2007 will also participate in the golf betting tournament. Steve Stricker, the 7th ranked player in the world will be on hand as well with plenty of fan support from Wisconsin. This impressive golf betting field will also include Todd Hamilton, who is a former British Open champion and a native of Illinois.
Other big names to be on hand for the John Deere include former major champions Mark Calcavecchia, Davis Love III, David Toms, Tom Lehman, Steve Elkington, Shaun Michael, Bob Tway, and Rich Beem.
The tournament takes place in what is known as the Quad Cities on the Illinois/Iowa border and John Deere assumed title sponsorship in 1998 which is fitting as they have their world headquarters in Moline, IL. The tournament has been at TPC Deere run since 2000.
