Golf betting turns its attention this week to the Valero Texas Open from LaCantera Golf Club in San Antonio, Texas.  Golf betting fans will handicap the Valero Texas Open that is worth 500 FedExCup points with a total purse of $6,100,000 and a winning share of $1,098,000.

Zach Johnson is the defending golf betting champion of the Valero Texas Open.  Johnson shot 19 under par to defeat Charlie Wi, Mark Wilson, and Tim Wilkinson by 2 strokes in last year’s event.

This golf betting tournament is played on a 72-hole course with 156 tour pros in the field.  The course has a total of 6881 yards and is a par 70 designed by Tom Weiskopf and Jay Morrish.

This week's action follows The Players golf betting event from Sawgrass in which Henrik Stenson won with a 12 under par performance to beat out Ian Poulter of England by 4 strokes.  Stenson, of Sweden, scored a 276 at The Players.  Three Americans followed on the golf betting leader board as John Mallinger and Kevin Na tied with scores of 281 while Jim Furyk scored a 282 to finish fifth.

Swede Brian Davis finished tied with Furyk and American Ben Crane at 282 while Tiger Woods finished with a 283.  Aaron Baddeley of Australia and Vijay Singh of Fiji rounded out the golf betting top ten at The Players.  It was the seventh career golf betting event win for Stenson and his first since 2007 when he won the WGC-Accenture Match Play Championship.

Heading into this week's action at San Antonio the FedExCup standings show that Geoff Ogilvy remains on top with a 54 point lead over second place Phil Mickelson.  Sean O'Hair is third and trails by 95 points.  Rounding out the FedExCup golf betting top five is Kenny Perry and Nick Watney.  Woods is 9th in the standings.  Masters Champion Angel Cabrera finished 15th.

Ogilvy has won the Mercedes-Benz Championship and the World Golf Championships-Accenture Match Play Championship this year.  He finished a disappointing 22nd at The Players. Mickelson totally bombed out and finished 55th at The Players.
