Bet on GolfThe 2016 Players Championship, one of the cornerstones of golf betting, will be held from May 12th-May 15th at the TPC Sawgrass in Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida. It will feature such greats as Rickie Fowler, Martin Kaymer, Tiger Woods and Matt Kuchar. Fowler was a couple of strokes short of winning The Players Championship in 2012, but he finally got his victory last season. He captured the 2015 tournament in a playoff and is thus the reigning champion. Considering his past successes on this course, Fowler should be favored by those who bet on golf online.
Rickie Fowler shot a 12-under last year and beat Sergio García and Kevin Kisner in a playoff with a birdie on the first extra hole. This was Fowler’s second of three victories on the PGA Tour. The third came last September, when he won the Deutsche Bank Championship with 15-under after edging out Henrik Stenson by a single stroke. Fowler remains on the hunt for his first win of 2016. He was this close to scoring a victory at the Waste Management Phoenix Open in February, but lost to Hideki Matsuyama in a playoff on the fourth extra hole. The 27-year-old is currently No. 5 in the world rankings.
Other recent champions in attendance will include Martin Kaymer, Tiger Woods and Matt Kuchar, as mentioned above. Kaymer shot a 13-under to win the 2014 tourney, besting runner-up Jim Furyk by one stroke. The German pro-golfer has captured three PGA Tour wins in his career as well, and boasts 22 professional wins overall – most of them occurred on the European Tour. Kaymer is a two-time major championship winner, winning his first title at the PGA Championship in 2007 and the U.S. Open in 2014. He comes into the 2016 Players Championship hungry for his first title following a two-year drought. Woods – a perpetual golf betting favorite – has won The Players Championship twice in his career, first in 2001 and then in 2013.
His best score was in 2001 when he shot a 14-under. Woods was also the runner-up at the 2000 edition of the event. The former No. 1 in the world has earned career 79 victories; the most recent took place at the Bridgestone Invitational in 2013. After injuring his back in 2014, he has struggled to return to the top. Regardless of his health, many people who bet on golf on line bet on Tiger. Kuchar was the 2012 champion with a score of 13-under. He has is a seven-time winner on the PGA Tour – most recently at the RBC Heritage in 2014 where he finished at 11-under and defeated Luke Donald by one stroke. Other big names that make golf betting experts mouths water are returning winners at The Player Championship like Henrik Stenson, Sergio García, Phil Mickelson and Adam Scott.
