Bet on the MLBWho would of "thunk it", but the Yankees face elimination tonight in the minimum amount of games, when they face the Tigers in this best of 7 ALCS. It's win or return to the "Big Apple" for the Yanks when this game starts at 8:05 PM ET in Motown's Comerica Park. The game will be carried nationally on TBS.
You knew things weren't going in New York's (0-3) favor when future Hall of Famer and team leader Derek Jeter broke his ankle at the end of the teams 6-4, 12 inning loss in game one. That was followed up with a 3-0 shutout defeat at the hands of Detroit's (3-0) Anibel Sanchez. Things deteriorated further in game three, with a tough 2-1 loss to the Tigers and Justin Verlander, putting the "Bronx Bombers" on the edge of elimination.
It will be up to ace southpaw C.C. Sabathia to save this N.Y sinking ship and he may very well be up to the task, posting a 7-1 postseason record and a 3.09 ERA over 13 games since joining the Yankees. He is 2-0 with a 1.53 ERA in this years playoffs. Righthander Max Scherzer has no such experience for the Tigers with his last outing being on 10/10, when he allowed just 1 unearned run to the A's over 5 and 1/3 innings. He has had success against the Yankees however, going 4-0 with a 2.39 ERA in his previous 5 career appearances versus them.
Against right-handed pitchers, the Yankees are 58-43 on the year, and 6-2 in their last 10 games. Against left-handers, the Tigers are 26-25 overall, going 2-1 in their last 10.
New York is 1-4 SU in their last 5 games. The total has gone UNDER in 6 of the Yankees' last 7 games. Detroit is 4-1 SU in their last 5 games. The Tigers are also 5-0 SU in their last 5 at home. The total has gone UNDER in 7 of their last 10 games.
Between the two teams, the Yankees are just 2-5 SU in their last 7 matchups against the Tigers.
New York is a road favorite from BetRoyal.com's Sportsbook odds at -$112, while Detroit is a +$102 at home. As a favorite, the Yankees are 78-49 on the year, and 7-3 in their last 10 games. As the underdog, the Tigers are 18-18 overall, going 1-0 in their last 10. The O/U is 7 total runs if you're willing to wager $130 to win $100.
