Bet on the MLBThe New York Mets and Los Angeles Dodgers have both been on substantial post-break slumps. The 47-45 Mets and 49-44 Dodgers have both lost seven of their last ten games. The two teams start a three game series at Citi Field tonight. The two teams have already played each other in Los Angeles last month with the Mets going 3-1 in that series.
Tonight's game has the Dodgers' Aaron Harang taking on the Mets' Johan Santana. Harang is 6-5 with a 3.53 ERA. Santana is 6-6 with a 3.59 ERA and has gone 3-4 since early June when he threw his no-hitter against St. Louis. The two pitchers have technically gone on the same streaks as each other with Harang stuck near an even record throughout the year.
The big difference between today's series and the series that took place last month is that the Dodgers have a number of players who were not available back on the lineup. Matt Kemp and Andre Ethier were both injured and unavailable during the first series. Both players are going to be in this series. Kemp has a .354 average while Ethier is batting .295.
The Mets have Mike Baxter on the disabled list but this is the only substantial injury that the Mets have in terms of position players. The Mets have a .260 team batting average. This is much higher than the .248 that the Dodgers have been dealing with during the entire year.
David Wright particularly leads the Mets in practically every notable offensive category. He has a .353 average, fourteen home runs and 65 RBI. He is one RBI behind St. Louis' Carlos Beltran for the National League lead and is third in the league in batting average.
The New York Mets have the early advantage on the current sportsbook line. The Mets have a -155 bet on them while the Dodgers are at +135. The game has an over/under of 7.5 runs in the game while the Mets have a +135 line to go at or over a two run lead for the final game result.
