Bet on the MLBIf you bet on MLB, would you bet on the team who has gone the longest since they last won a championship in Major League Baseball – or any other American sport for that matter? If not, you might want to think again. The Chicago Cubs have the best MLB baseball betting odds to win the 2016 World Series. The Cubs are fresh from having their best season since 2003, winning 97 games and making it to the National League Championship Series, where the New York Mets admittedly made short work of them. Nevertheless, the Cubs improved even further during the offseason when they signed Jason Heyward to the largest contract of any position player. With a basis of power hitters and current NL Cy Young award winner Jake Arrieta, Chicago arguably has the best roster in the game today.
The New York Mets just might be Chicago’s largest hurdle in the National League yet again, but those who bet on MLB for a living doubt that reigning champions Kansas City Royals will win it all again. The Royals have an over/under win total of just 84. The San Francisco Giants have the second-best championship odds after failing to make the playoffs last year. San Francisco has won the championship in every other season since 2010, and they will see another title this year if this tendency continues. San Francisco missed the play-offs in 2011 and again in 2013.
In the AL, the Toronto Blue Jays and the Boston Red Sox have the best MLB baseball betting World Series odds. Both teams will have a hard time making the playoffs, though, taking into account that they might be playing in the toughest division. The Blue Jays, Red Sox and New York Yankees all have projected win totals of at least 85 games, while the Tampa Bay Rays are favored to be above .500 too. One year after leading the league with 100 wins in 2015, the St. Louis Cardinals have an over/under win total of just 86.5. The Cards have won at least 86 games in each of the past 8 seasons, and they are averaging 93 wins since they won the World Series in 2011.
The Pittsburgh Pirates are averaging 93 wins over the last 3 years, and their projected win total of 85 comes after they had the MLB’s second-best record behind St. Louis. The Atlanta Braves, Philadelphia Phillies and Cincinnati Reds are the only two teams with projected win totals below 70.
Philadelphia hasn’t had a winning record since 2011. Of course the seasons has but started and many things can happen and change in the interim. This is just so that get an idea of who to bet on MLB for this year’s World Series.
