Baseball odds on Easter Sunday will include a matchup of opposites to make baseball bets on from Kansas City. Baseball odds favor the rich, powerful, and loaded New York Yankees to again win most of their baseball bets and possibly the pennant as well.
The New York Yankees enter 2009 action against the baseball odds as one of the heavy chalks to win it all. The Yankees were far and away the most active team during the off season with free agency and have an expensive lineup of stars that will be financed by their brand new stadium that is already close to sold out for the entire season of baseball bets.
Be forewarned, however, that the Pinstripes are a highly expensive commodity against the baseball odds and that you will often be making overlays with them. A great example of this comes from 2008 in which New York was 89-73 straight up while actually operating in the red against the baseball odds with a -$472 result against the money line for the season.
The key to understanding the Yankees and the baseball odds is that they are one of the most popular teams on the board and a lot of average bettors will take them against the baseball odds based on their "name brand" status, which causes the line to inflate beyond where it actually belongs. That being said, the best time to make baseball bets on the Yankees is often when they are on the road as the baseball odds are often less expensive than when they are at home.
Right hander Joba Chamberlain is the scheduled starter for New York. He is a former setup reliever that has converted to a starter. Last year he had impressive numbers against the baseball odds with a record of 4-3 and a tidy earned run average of 2.60.
The Kansas City Royals are one of the least popular or desirable teams for the public on the baseball odds board. The perennial losers have a remade lineup and improved pitching but will remain consistent underdogs against the baseball odds.
Center fielder Coco Crisp and first baseman Mike Jacobs are expected to add production. KC finished strong last year going 18-8 in September.
